San Jose, Calif. ¡ª April 17,
2012 ¡ªAs travelers rely more
and more on their cell phones vs.
the landline in the room, Bittel
Americas has enhanced the UNO Media
series placing focus, functionality
and fun back into the guestroom
telephone. The UNO Media 3
third-generation device from Bittel
is a guestroom phone, audio player
with embedded iPhone/iPod dock (plus
integrated cables for iPads and
other MP3 players), and an alarm
clock radio all in one. UNO Media 3
is Bittel's answer to travelers',
brands' and designers' demands for
service, standards and style.
"If your hotel is determined to have
a strong mobile strategy but your
rooms feature a traditional phone, 'fuggetaboutit!'"
said Mitch Heinlein, Bittel VP of
Sales and Marketing. "Today's
leisure and business travelers are
extremely dependent on their mobile
devices -- even when a computer
offering web access or a phone
featuring one-touch room-to-room
dialing is present. If the unit
can't support mobile devices, it's a
capital or operating expense that
will surely be underutilized. On the
other hand, adding mobile-compatible
features to phones, such as a way to
charge the guest's mobile device or
listen to music and set a wake- up
alarm, will make the investment more
justifiable for owners and it will
add a deeper appreciation for the
hotel on the part of the guest.
Travelers are more likely to become
loyal to a hotel or brand that they
believe caters to their personal
preferences -- and that includes
supporting their mobile devices
whenever possible."
According to a recent study released
in January 2012 by PhocusWright
titled: "Mobile Hits the Mainstream:
Leisure and Business Traveler
Trends," smartphone ownership among
leisure travelers is at 52% while
73% of business travelers own a
smartphone. The main use of the
mobile device is for Internet
connectivity. Within the past year,
59% of leisure travelers and 84% of
business travelers with mobile
phones use their devices to access
the mobile Internet. In addition,
39% of mobile web users (both
leisure and buisiness travelers)
will access the web via mobile
device even when Internet-connected
PCs are in reach.
"It's a given that the majority of
guests will be traveling with some
sort of mobile device," Heinlein
said. "Showing them that you
understand the value they place on
their mobile lifestyle by giving
them a place to dock and charge
their phones and tablet computers
goes a long way to ensuring guest
satisfaction and enhancing loyalty.
While supplementing guests'
new-found mobility is important, it
doesn't mean that reliance on
traditional in-room amenities, such
as alarm clock radios, has wained.
Combining technologies from multiple
devices into one convenient,
easy-to-use and stylish unit
improves guest satisfaction and
owners' returns on investment. No
one pulls it all together like
Bittel."
UNO
Media 3 is streamlined to complement
any room decor. EZ-Fit faceplate
inserts make branding and messaging
simple and they don't require a
plastic overlay. The universal
template saves time and money on
maintenance and replacements, while
the acrylic overlay seals against
moisture and spills to better
protect against damage. The unit is
available in cordless and corded
models with single- and two-line
configurations plus speakerphone.
Each unit is equipped with up to 10
programmable guest-service keys and
a message waiting indicator is
compatible with all major
hospitality PBXs.
"Bittel remains focused on
developing solutions that are
functional and fun for guests to use
while helping hotels protect their
assets and improve on their bottom
lines," Heinlein said. "UNO Media 3
is sleek, stylish and wired for
sound. What more could you ask from
a guestroom phone?"
UNO Media 3 will be on display at
HITEC, June 25 to 28 at the
Baltimore Convention Center in Booth
#2056. To preschedule an
